Tonne of wood on fire at Telford building yard

A tonne of wood caught fire at a Telford building yard today.

Two fire crews from Telford Central and Wellington were sent to put out the flames at Tafs Building Yard, in Gower Street, St Georges, early this morning.

They were called at about 12.30am and used two hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

The fire was under control about 20 minutes later.

Elsewhere, there was a fire outside a Telford church.

A fire crew from Wellington was sent to St Leonard's Church in Malinslee after a small area of fencing caught fire.

The crew arrived at about 9.10pm on Wednesday and used buckets of water to put out the flames. The area was safe by 9.25pm.
