Alison Wakeman has been visiting Sir Alexander Fleming Primary School, in Sutton Hill, Telford, after writing a business programme based around pure beeswax candles.

Alison, who runs Alison's Bee Class, has educated more than 3,000 primary school children about the awareness of bees and their importance in the environment.

Now, she has added a new programme to her sessions utilising her previous career skills and knowledge in business studies.

It is aimed at nine to 13-year-olds, in particular pupils choosing business studies as part of their GCSE options.

Over a series of sessions, Alison is getting the children to set up a business enterprise which includes deciding on a company name, designing, market research, manufacturing and marketing.

Schools which have taken part in the project have planned it to coincide with a particular school event, such as their Christmas fair, to allow the children to sell their goods.

Alison said: “I have great passion about educating young people especially on important issues based around bees, in fact, I can drone on all day.

"The positive feedback I have received from the schools so far is how much the children have enjoyed and learned many new valuable skills and business terminology."

Alison also teaches beekeeping for adults as well as giving talks to social groups.
