Second Wellington Scouts are hosting the local event with a radio station in their meeting hut at Lychgate Walk, with technical support and training from members of Telford and District Amateur Radio Society, led by Graham Cowan, who is also a scout leader.

It will involve scouts, leaders, parents and volunteers, and runs from 10.30am on Saturday to noon on Sunday. Activities will be both practical, fun and educational and talking to other scouts all over the world.

Graham said: “Jamboree On The Air - JOTA - began in 1957 in central England and we at Shropshire scouts have taken part with a radio station since 2011.

“This year's station callsign is GB60WSG which stands for 'Wellington Scout Group' and our voices will pass around the world making friends in this world's largest scouting event. It's going to be a great weekend.”
