The collision, between two cars, happened in Mill Lane, Diddlebury, near Craven Arms.

One of the vehicles overturned and the other was smoking, leading to fears for the drivers.

The road was closed for emergency services to deal with the crash and to allow the cars to be removed.

Both the air ambulance and a land ambulance were on scene as firefighters from Craven Arms and Ludlow used special cutting equipment to release the woman trapped in the vehicle, which was on its side.

Police Inspector Peter Isanga said that thankfully the woman did not suffer significant injuries in the accident, which happened at around 12.45pm today.

"When she was released she was taken to hospital to be checked over," he said.
