Two-car crash in Shrewsbury leaving one driver injured

Two cars were involved in a collision in Shrewsbury on Monday morning.

Fire crews were called to the scene but weren't needed

Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service (SFRS) said the crash on Battlefield Road occurred at around 9.55am.

A spokesperson for SFRS said the fire service sent two fire engines to the scene, after receiving reports that people were trapped in the two vehicles.

However, on a arrival, firefighters found none of the occupants were trapped and crews were not needed.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.49am to a road traffic collision involving two cars on Battlefield Road in Shrewsbury. One ambulance attended the scene.

"Upon arrival we found two patients who were the drivers of the cars. The first driver was assessed and had sustained minor injuries. He received self-care advice from ambulance staff before being discharged at the scene. The second driver did not require assessment from ambulance staff."
