New loans for third world entrepreneurs from Shrewsbury Rotary club
A Rotary club has announced that it will be making further new loans to entrepreneurs in third world countries.
Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club now has a total of £1,750 to invest with Lendwithcare, which makes the loans to entrepreneurs.
Members heard at their last Zoom meeting that 22 Lendwithcare repayments totalling £84.68 were recently made.
Rotarian Chris Allsop, who chairs the club’s international committee, said: “This is very good, particularly as these entrepreneurs are struggling with coronavirus just like ourselves.
“We have a sum of £250 which was previously approved by the club, but has not yet been used.
"It has now been agreed to use this money which will make up a total of £1,750 that can be recycled through Lendwithcare as and when.”
A ‘very special video of thanks for support’ was recently circulated to members.
Tracey Horner, head of Lendwithcare, to whom members of Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club have already lent a total of more than £1,500 to help create entrepreneurs in third world countries, sent the video as a ‘thank you’ to Rotarians.
Lendwithcare is part of CARE International UK and in her communication to Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club Tracey highlighted the hardships faced by small-scale entrepreneurs and the low-income households that depend on them.
“The hardships have been unthinkable in the past year, but thankfully most have managed to survive and with Rotary support in 2021, and beyond, they will continue to thrive,” she added.
