Crews called to kitchen fire at Shrewsbury house

Firefighters were called out to a kitchen fire in Shrewsbury in the early hours of the this morning.

The alarm was raised in Morton Crescent, Shrewsbury, just before 1.30am with fears that there could be someone still inside the house.

Three fire crews were mobilised by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.

It said crews dealt with a small fire in the cooker with officers having to put on breathing apparatus because of the smoke. After they fire was extinguished they then ventilated the property.

No one was hurt and the fire was under control in 20 minutes.
