The stranded car winched to safety

The three occupants of the car had a lucky escape when the vehicle stalled in the fast flowing Cound Brook near Condover on Sunday.

Unable to retrieve the vehicle police closed the road over the festive holidays.

A specialist recovery team was brought in today to winch the car to dry land and the road was reopened.

Drivers are being warned not to attempt to cross flooded roads and fords that are high.

The Environment Agency has lifted flood alerts on the Rivers Severn and Vyrnwy however there is still flooding on farmland and some country lanes.

Pedestrians are being urged to take care when walking near swollen rivers.
