The decision was made by Shropshire Council in Shirehall

An application was submitted for the lodges and a new building at Netley Old Hall Farm, Dorrington.

Millers of Netley is an existing wedding and leisure destination.

This application represents an investment in the business to provide new holiday accommodation and a multi-purpose leisure building to enhance the existing facilities on site.

The new development will create an additional four full-time jobs and four part-time jobs.

The proposed building will replace the existing marquee and the footprint of the new building would be the same as it is currently.

The site already has approval for change of use of land for use as a helicopter pad, one log cabin and the wedding marquee for temporary use.

The plans add: “The proposed development involves the creation of much needed visitor accommodation in Shropshire.

"Market research indicates that people like to stay in high quality accommodation. Although there is still a strong requirement for traditional camping, there has been a significant growth in ‘glamping’ and more exclusive holiday lodges are becoming a popular accommodation choice.

“The siting of the lodges will be on the existing grassland to the rear and there is no requirement to remove any trees. This will be both beneficial in terms of reducing visual impact and also create a more secluded area for people staying in the lodges

“The existing marquee is a large structure, with the appearance of a typical white marquee. The canopy at the front is used for shelter to arriving guests and smokers.

“There will be no significant impact on the landscape, ecology/arboriculture, or visual impact. It is considered that the proposed development would not give rise to unacceptably adverse impacts on the environment, local amenities or other interests of acknowledged importance.”

Car parking spaces for 34 vehicles would also be created.

Shropshire Council gave the plans the green light subject to conditions.
