Shrewsbury police called to three bridge incidents

Police in Shrewsbury were called to three separate incidents today where people were threatening to jump from bridges around the town.

They said they had received three call-outs since midnight.

Listing useful contact numbers for vulnerable people to call, they said: "Since midnight, Shrewsbury Officers have attended three incidents where three different individuals have tried to take their lives from bridges in the town.

"All three individuals have been taken to hospital or Shropshire Sanctuary to get the help they need."

Meanwhile, a police negotiator talked a man down off a Telford bridge this morning.
