Burst water main causes disruption

Households were left high and dry this morning after water pressure in parts of Shrewsbury fell and the service was cut off.

The problem was caused by a burst water pipe at The Mount.

The fault caused water supplies to be cut or run at low pressure in properties in the SY3 district.

Contractors from Severn Trent were called to the scene of the burst pipe and have been working throughout the day to fix the pipe.

A spokeswoman for Severn Trent said: "Our teams have been working hard to get this pipe fixed and everything back to normal as quickly as possible.

"We know how difficult it is to have no water and we're sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing.

"We'd like to reassure our customers that we're doing everything we can to get the water supplies back on as soon as we can."
