Man airlifted with serious injuries after getting trapped in machine at sawmill

A man was flown to hospital with serious injuries after being rescued from a machine at a sawmill near Ellesmere .

The man had to be rescued from a machine at ETC Sawmills at about 11am today, Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said.

He was helped by three fire crews before being taken to hospital for treatment.

Jordan Eggington from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 10.50am to [Elson Road] in Ellesmere. We sent one ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford to the scene.

"Crews arrived to find one patient, a man. He was treated at the scene for serious injuries, and flown to the major trauma centre at Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment.”

ETC Sawmills has been approached for comment.
