The market, managed by the town council, has been told it can now hold some of its events, and is kicking off with its annual Gardening and Artisan Market on Friday. This will be followed by the first charity market of the year, on June 4.

Markets manager David Clough said: "The gardening event will be held on the Bailey Head where there will be a number of interesting plant sellers and interactive plant stands run by the Wildlife Trust and the local allotment group.

"Not only will there by interesting plants to purchase but there will be plenty of gardening advice available if needed."

Running alongside will be the monthly artisan market where shoppers can find fresh pork pies, cheeses, homemade fudge, delicious cakes and plenty more.

The charity market sees local charities invited to have a stall free of charge to raise awareness and provide expert advice on a number of important issues or to raise much-needed funds for their charity.

Mr Clough said: ""On the day local business Evastore has teamed up with Oswestry Borderland Rotary to raise funds for various local community projects, including a plan to plant native spring bulbs in various community spaces around eastern Oswestry in the autumn to enhance people's self-esteem, well-being and mental health with a multi coloured spring flower display in public grassed areas.

"Its document shredding van will be alongside the Guildhall from 10am to 2.30pm on the Bailey Head on the day where, for a donation of £5 for up to 10 kilos of paperwork, local people and businesses can have their paperwork and documents securely professionally shredded. All shredded documents go to Kimberley Clark to be converted into tissue paper."

The new mayor, Councillor Mark Jones will be welcoming the individual charities thanking them for their hard work.
