Roadworks to deal with the potholes along Station Road through the village are set to begin on June 1 and traffic using the busy A495 Oswestry to Whitchurch road will be diverted when the works are taking place. It is due to be completed by June 7.

There have been complaints about the state of the road for months, particularly the stretch on the Oswestry side of the railway crossing.

Shropshire Highways has stressed that access to the village will be restricted to residents and local businesses although pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and emergency services will be able to get through.

The work is taking place throughout the half term to avoid disruption to the primary school.

The resurfacing will take place from 9.30am until 4pm on week days and 8am until 5pm on the Saturday and Sunday.

A spokesperson for Shropshire Highways said: "Inevitably there will be some disruption during the works for which we apologise in advance. Access to the frontages will be maintained however please liaise with the operatives on site.

"We ask people to refrain from parking within the vicinity of the works during the working hours."

During the road closure traffic will be diverted via local roads by a fully signed diversion road.
