The British Ironwork Centre has joined forces with Bruno Peek the UK's Pageant Master to organise a nation wide Peal of Bells in 2020 to mark Victory in Europe day which heralded the end of World War Two.

Town criers and town and parish councils across Britain are expected to be involved in the event which will see thousands of the specially engraved hand bells ring out.

Mr Peek, who works closely with the Royal Family, is also involved in this year's, Battle's Over - A Nation's Tribute, on November 11 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1.

That event will include a Chelsea Pensioner ringing one of the British Ironworks bells as part of the Nation's Tribute.

After providing the bell, the Shropshire tourist attraction has now been asked to produce up to 8,000 bells for the VE 75 event in 2020 that will be individually engraved. Those taking part will purchase a bell with a £10 going to charity.

Clive Knowles, chairman of the British Ironwork Centre, said he was honoured to be involved in such a big event.
