Money stolen in Oswestry cash point theft

A thief stole money while it was being taken out of a cash point card by his victim.

The offender distracted the person who was withdrawing cash from outside a bank at The Cross in Oswestry at lunchtime on February 2.

Police say the thief was white, stocky, in his 50s and was wearing a black hat and blue jeans.

"The customer recovered his cash card but the offender was seen taking the cash," a police spokesman said.

Officers are warning people to be vigilant when at cash point machines.

Anyone who saw the theft or may have information should contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 0349s 020218.
