Brollies brighten up the town
A town centre courtyard has been transformed into a brilliant brolly fest - with 50 umbrellas creating a false ceiling.
Shoppers in Oswestry have been amazed to see a host of colourful umbrellas strung above the cobbled passageway off Bailey Street - as if dozens of Mary Poppins had flown down.
And with snow flurries forecast for this week, the brollies will be just the thing for shoppers to shelter under.
The artwork is the brainchild of Glenys Smith, whose family run business owns properties along the courtyard.
Her daughter, Myfanwy Moss, said Mrs Smith was well known for brightening up the courtyard throughout the year.
"She definitely goes to town on the Christmas decorations and has also won trophies in the Oswestry in Bloom competition," she said.
"The businesses here all help out, including the Queen Anne coffee lounge, Bubbles hairdresser, Kontong Toksen, D and G Properties and the Flower Gallery on Bailey Street."
The brollies have already captured the imagination of shoppers and traders alike with people stopping to admire and take photos of the courtyard.
