Housebuilder, Jennings Estates Ltd has applied for permission for a development on land south of Middleton Road in the town.

The plot of land is the most northern patch of Oswestry's planned urban extension, which could see 600 homes built between the town and the A5/A483 bypass.

In the outline planning application consultants say the developer is simply seeking a means of access into the land at present although the reports says it is envisaged that homes will be similar to those already in the Middleton Road area, of two and three storey buildings.

It says that the site has the benefit of existing access off Middleton Road to the north. As part of the application, road improvements would be made along the highway to better accommodate the level of development proposed. It would take the form of a simple priority junction.

The application has already brought one letter of concern from a local resident . Mr John Young, a foprmer Chartered Health & Safety Practitioner says he fears the develoment will put pressure on the existing road network including the Salop Road/Middleton Road junction.
