The Dawley Branch of the Royal British Legion, in partnership with Great Dawley Town Council, are to put on a centenary event including a parade by cadet groups alongside Scouts and a Girls Brigade.

At 1.40pm the parade will leave from the bottom of Dawley High Street past the Christian Centre and on to the Dawley Park.

There will be a dedication service for a new war memorial in the park, and the freedom of the town will be given to the Cadet forces.

There will also be entertainment from various artists during the day and representatives from the Army, Navy and Marines will attend.

In Wellington, a parade will leave the Nailor’s Row car park at 10.25am, make its way down New Street, through Market Square and up Church Street to All Saints Church where a service and wreath laying will then take place.

And in Oakengates, Telford & Wrekin Council will host an event in conjunction with the Royal British Legion and Telford Christians Together.

There will be a parade of standards and one hundred names will be read from the Roll of Honour.

The parade, beginning at 10.30am, will go along Oxford Street to Market Street, from the Salvation Army to Hartshill Park.

These roads will be closed whilst the parade passes along those sections of the route.

Once the parade has passed marshals will then re-open the roads to motorists.
