Mothers and health service campaigners will take to the streets of Ludlow tomorrow in support of the town's maternity unit.

Road closures will be in place for the march at noon, which will see campaigners, including mums and children who used the unit at Ludlow Hospital, gather in Castle Square before making their way to the hospital in Gravel Hill.

The protesters are showing their support as there are fears that there is no agreement to fund the unit in place beyond April next year.

The unit was forced to move to the main hospital from the ageing former workhouse building in recent weeks due to structural issues.

Save Ludlow Maternity Unit campaigner Sarah Meek said: "We want parents to bring their banners and babies.

"We want to show them we will not let them close our maternity and hospital.

"Let's bring this community together on Saturday and fight for Ludlow maternity unit."
