With upwards of 5,500 sq ft of space including eight bedrooms, the Grade II listed farmhouse which dates from the early 17th century and comes with 18.5 acres of land – has been bought by a young family looking for the ideal lifestyle location.

Auctioneer Matthew Peters from Bruton Knowles said very competitive bidding in the room meant the traditional red brick farm exceeded all expectations.

“The guide price was £650,000 and it went for £820,000. This underlines once again the importance of realistic pricing when looking at farm and other big ticket land sales.”

The farm, which is in need of complete modernisation, included a range of traditional and modern farm buildings, old orchards, a walled garden and a small lake.
