The accident happened south of Church Stretton at about 6.45am this morning and the driver managed to get free of the wreckage with only minor injuries.

The stretch of road, at the junction with the B5477 to Little Stretton, is known for accidents.

Jamie Arrowsmith, speaking for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said emergency services actually happened upon the scene by chance.

He said: "It was actually an off-duty paramedic officer who came across it, the patient, a man in his 40s, was out of the car. He was fully conscious and walking about.

"He had a laceration to his wrist and forehead, minor injuries, but he was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by a land ambulance.

"It looks like the car had hit a grass verge and that's why it ended up on its roof," he said.

Police also attended the scene and the car was quickly recovered.
