Thomas Jones turned up at Asda in Donnington Wood in a drunken state on November 4 last year, first approaching a member of staff on her break who was heading to her car with balloons.

Jones, 39, was "clearly in drink", prosecutor Kate Price told Telford Magistrates Court last week, and he asked the woman for the balloons "so he could 'suck the stuff out of them'".

He carried on into the store and began "shouting and bawling", Ms Price said. "When he went towards the checkouts he was followed by [a member of staff]. As he approached the checkout he accidentally hit her."
