Man, 26, injured in attempted stabbing near Cleobury Mortimer

A 26-year-old man was left with a slashed arm after an attacker tried to stab him.

West Mercia Police said the victim was attacked by a gang of four men near Cleobury Mortimer, one of whom tried to stab him.

The attack happened at around 10.50pm on Saturday, June 9, near to the A4117, by flats that were previously the Horse and Jockey pub, and close to Bell Farm.

West Mercia Police said the attackers were in two vehicles – a Ford Focus and a Peugeot – and made off on the A4117 towards Kidderminster.

One of the attackers has been described as Afro Caribbean.

Police said inquiries are on-going and they are appealing for witnesses.

Detective Constable Matt Howell said: "If anyone has information that can help with our enquiries we'd like to hear from them. The incident happened late at night but someone may have seen or heard something."

Inspector Ed Hancox leads the Safer Neighbourhood Team for the area and moved to reassure local residents.

He said: "I know residents in Cleobury Mortimer will be concerned that an incident like this has happened near to the town and would like to reassure them extensive inquiries are being carried out into this incident to make sure those responsible are apprehended."
