Teen died after 'losing control' in race on A470, court hears
A teenager died after losing control of his car while “racing” another driver on his way home from a shift at a factory, a jury heard.

Rhys Davies, 28, of Parc Hafod, Tregynon, near Newtown, denies causing the death of colleague Matthew Bennett, 19, by driving dangerously on the A470 at Caersws just before 8am on October 8, 2016.
John Philpotts, prosecuting at Mold Crown Court, said Davies had been driving a VW Golf “close behind” Mr Bennett whose Ford Fiesta collided at “high speed” with two approaching vans and ended up in a field near a bend.
Mr Philpotts said: "Mr Bennett was partly responsible for his own death but so too was this defendant.”
Davies had disputed to police that he was close behind Mr Bennett when the smash happened and denied driving dangerously.
The trial, before Judge Niclas Parry, continues.
