Owner of digger filmed knocking down Crooked House denies wrongdoing after hire firm targeted
The boss of a plant firm that hired out the excavator used to demolish The Crooked House has denied doing anything wrong.
A 14-tonne Hyundai excavator bearing the name of hire firm Lyndon Thomas was filmed knocking down the 18th-century building in Himley two days after fire ripped through it.
But the Northamptonshire firm's owner, Lyndon Thomas, told Construction News the firm had delivered the excavator a week and a half ago, but a driver was not supplied in the deal.
The historic pub, which was devastated by fire on Saturday night, was 'wrongfully' demolished on Monday, South Staffordshire Council has confirmed, with the blaze now being treated as arson.
