The Welsh comedy hip hop group, famous for hits including 'Guns Don't Kill People, Rappers Do', will be at Shrewsbury Castle on Friday, May 2, for Loopfest, the county town’s highly popular, multi-venue, live music extravaganza.

This year’s Loopfest, which has helped Shrewsbury town centre break footfall records, will be the fourth in three years and will run from the Friday to Sunday, May 4.

There will be “fringe” events on Friday which cost £20-25 per ticket plus booking fee, while Loopfest wristbands for the main event on the Saturday and Sunday cost £12 for adults and £6 for kids under 16. The bands will get revellers into any venue in the programme. Fringe event tickets will come with a complimentary wristband for the main festival, so anyone going to a Friday event will be able to go to Saturday and Sunday gigs for free.

Organisers say that in response to growing demand, there will be new performance spaces on top of Shrewsbury Castle and St Mary’s Church.

There will also be stages at Shrewsbury College's Welsh Bridge Campus, Morris Hall, and the English Bridge Workshop.

The festival will span 40 venues, hosting more than 250 artists across Shrewsbury.

There will also be more DJ-focused events, including at The Buttermarket and The Vaults, to appeal to dance music fans.

As well as the Goldie Lookin Chain gig, which is £20 a ticket, several other fringe acts have been announced.

Also on Friday, The Buttermarket will host Subvert DNB featuring Mandidextrous, Dillinja, and Benny L (£20 plus booking), Albert’s Shed will host Coach Party, Girlband!, and Boom Boom Womb (also £20 plus booking, and St. Mary's Church will host Jonathan and Alex (Everything Everything, Acoustic) and In Conversation with BBC Radio 6 Music's Chris Hawkins (£25 plus booking).

The main festival boasts a lineup of rock, indie, folk, and electronic acts featuring Miles Hunt (The Wonder Stuff), Ben Ottewell (Gomez), Don Letts, The Beatles Dub Club, Funke and the Two-Tone Baby, The Spitfires and more.

Organiser Jamie Smith said: “With 40 venues showcasing diverse genres and performances, music enthusiasts of all ages and tastes can immerse themselves in Shrewsbury's vibrant cultural scene.”
