Lake Vyrnwy in Powys is Severn Trent’s biggest reservoir – and it is also a beauty spot enjoyed by thousands of visitors every year

This stunning image was taken by Shropshire Star reader Paul Murray from Hadley, Telford.

It shows the calm waters of Lake Vyrnwy in Powys, the beautiful reservoir that provides supplies to the taps of homes and businesses in big cities across the Midlands.

Paul’s picture is the latest entrant in the Shropshire Star’s Star Witness photographic gallery on Instagram.

More than 3,000 people are now following the gallery online.

The collection of images from across Shropshire and Mid Wales is growing fast since it was launched in February.

It is a permanent record of the landscapes and people that make our region great – from the history and industry of our towns to the beauty of our countryside.

With warm sunshine forecast for the next week, it is the perfect chance to get out and take your own pictures.

Star Witness uses Instagram to record images from the region.

Pictures submitted using the hashtag #shropshirestar are uploaded every day.

That gives you the chance to share your images of the region, and builds a unique and special pictorial record of Shropshire and Mid Wales, its scenery and its people as it moves through the seasons.
