Public's views wanted over Ludlow bridge

Ludlow's recently repaired Ludford Bridge will be the subject of a debate at a public meeting.

What people think of the recent closure and repair of the historic Ludlow bridge over the River Teme, and what they think should be done to manage traffic over it in the future, will be the main item for discussion at a meeting of Ludlow and Clee Local Joint Committee (LJC) on June 30.

Ludford Bridge was closed for more than two months after a lorry reversed into its wall, knocking a large hole in its side.

Andy Boddington, Shropshire Councillor for Ludlow North and chair of Ludlow and Clee LJC, said: "We will be examining why the repair looks so new and whether HGVs should be banned from the bridge."

"We'll also look at what action to take should the bridge be closed again."

"We would particularly welcome hearing from local businesses at this meeting."

The meeting, at the Elim Meeting Rooms on Smithfield Car Park, Lower Galdeford, will take place at 7pm.

It will be the second of two LJC meeting this month, with the first one on June 16 at Bitterley Village Hall also at 7pm.

At that meeting the future of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty will be discussed as well as briefings on issues facing farmers in the area and the problems of affordable housing.
