Fears lorry ban on Ludlow's Ludford Bridge will cause traffic problems
Large lorries should be banned from a town's historic bridge – but there are fears it could lead to traffic problems elsewhere.
A survey has showed 91 per cent of people support the idea of banning HGVs from using Ludford Bridge, one of the main entrances to Ludlow across the River Teme. The bridge has been closed since February after a large hole was knocked in the wall by a reversing lorry.
Two pallets of fallen stone have been recovered from the river and fresh stone sourced for the repairs, which are hoped to be completed by the end of this month.
The vast majority of about 200 people who responded to an online survey supported a ban.
But Andy Boddington, Shropshire councillor for Ludlow North, who carried out the survey, said a ban may worsen problems in other parts of the town.
