The alleged shooting happened while Jason Weaver was visiting members of his family in Harlow, Essex.

His son, Sam Weaver, was later treated in hospital for burns to his left hand and buckshot was removed from his right arm.

The alleged gunman, Shea Kenny, 25, of Harlow, pleaded not guilty at the start of the week-long case yesterday at Chelmsford Crown Court to possessing a shotgun with intent to endanger life and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm on August 30 last year.

Mr Ramiz Gursoy, prosecuting, said: "It happened about 12.30pm when Sam Weaver received gunshot wounds when Kenny, who was in a BMW, shot him from where he was sitting.

Sam Weaver was grappling with the barrel as he was shot in the right arm."

Mr Weaver told the court he was about to go back to Telford after dropping off his son when the shooting happened.

The trial continues.
