Former Shropshire man, 44, jailed for sexual assault
A former Shropshire man has been jailed for six years for sexually assaulting a woman.
Colin Davies was living in Onibury, near Ludlow, when he attacked the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, in March last year.
Davies, who now lives in Worcester, had admitted the assault at a previous court hearing. The 44-year-old appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday (mon) to be sentenced.
Jailing him, Judge Peter Barrie said: "You assaulted her in circumstances that were degrading and painful. It has had a profound effect on her, forcing her to change her name and move away."
"You have clearly failed to understand what it was like for her."
Mrs Debra White, for Davies, said her client had been effectively homeless since the incident and had been sleeping in his car.
She said he "behaved very differently when in drink" and had suffered since the commission of the offence by being a target for abuse and having his property damaged.
