HMV delighted with reopening of Telford store
HMV has reported a busy first few days after reopening in Telford.
The new store, which has created 12 new jobs, reopened on Saturday in Telford Shopping Centre, almost three years after the previous shop closed when the chain went into administration.
The Hilco-owned store is now located in the former That's Entertainment unit on North Sherwood Street, opposite Boots.
Kris Townsend, store manager, has moved across from HMV Shrewsbury, where he has been store manager since 2012.
Mr Townsend, who began working at HMV in 2005 said the first few days had gone very well and many shoppers were happy to see it return.
He said: "We've had a lot of positive feedback about our return to Telford from local people and we're really excited to be back.
"While we've been away our focus has returned to music, film and related entertainment merchandise."
The previous store was one of 66 across the country to close after HMV went into administration in February 2013.
Ian Topping, chief executive of HMV, said: "We would like to thank our many loyal customers in Telford for their continued enthusiasm and support. We look forward to providing the people of Telford with the very best film, music and some fantastic merchandise."
