The new, B&M store is to take over the former Homebase centre on the Penda Retail Park on Salop Road.

The company already has a shop in Oswestry town centre but says the new shop will concentrate on home and garden wares. It is recognised as the largest growing discount retailer in the UK.

It is the latest success for Oswestry in attracting high street names to the town, In the summer another discount store, The Original Factory Shop, opened a shop in the former Regal Cinema building on English Walls.

Oswestry mayor, Councillor Peter Cherrington, will open the new B&M store on October 31.

He said: "It is good news that such a large retail until has been let so quickly after Homebase closed."
