Shropshire stars! Charity turns dogs seeking homes into emojis
Two dogs currently housed by a Shropshire charity have been turned into emojis in a bid to find them a new home.
Barry the beagle and Benji the Yorkshire terrier have been turned into the popular smartphone images in the hope it will secure them a new family.
The two dogs are living at the Dogs Trust in Shrewsbury and will be featured on its new mobile app released by the charity.
The app features 23 of the country's most popular dog breeds in emoji form.
What's more, each character on the app has been based on a real life dog searching for a new home.
Eleven-year-old Barry is an older dog who staff at the rehoming centre call "Uncle Barry".
Louise Campbell, manager of the centre in Shrewsbury, said: "He is such a superstar with the younger dogs and puppies. Barry helps socialise the rehoming centre's youngest dogs and teaches them what's right from wrong. He walks very well on his lead and loves exploring his local surroundings and sniffing out new smells."
She said Benji is a lively dog who loves to get his own way.
He adores playing with his toys, and will bring them back to you again and again," she added.
"He is looking for an adult-only home, with owners who have experience of terriers. Benji will need patient and understanding owners as he will need some help settling in to his new surroundings."
Adrian Burder, CEO of Dogs Trust, added: "We're delighted to launch the Dogs Trust Emoji app which will allow us to celebrate the wonderful variety of our UK population in a fun and creative way."
