Paul Tacchi has taken over The Bear Inn in Northgate, Bridgnorth, with his new business partners, Adrian and Alison Hubbard. Together they have launched APA Taverns.

The 26-year-old – who was Shropshire's youngest town councillor when he was elected to Bridgnorth Town Council in 2007 at the age of 21 – began his pub career working in the town's Jewel of the Severn Wetherspoons pub.

Mr Tacchi said: "Adrian and Alison used to run the Acton Arms in Morville. We have all known each other for a long time and over the last 12 months we had been trying to take over a pub.

"I began in the trade working in Wetherspoons when I was 18.

"I worked my way through the ranks and moved to Wetherspoons pub in Sedgley and other parts of the Black Country. In 2010 I took over at the Boycott Arms in Claverley before moving on to Ludlow Golf Club as bar manager.

"When The Bear came on the market we grabbed it. We produced a business plan for owners Enterprise Inns and we've been trading here since December."

He added: "We are focusing on live music, quality real ales and home-cooked food. We aim to eventually take on four or five pubs, with the chance of brewing our own beer on site."
