The selection of new flowers by David Austin Roses features the first yellow rose it has introduced for 10 years.

There is also a hybrid named after David Austin Jnr's daughter. The Olivia Rose Austin is a pink, soft rose that the Albrighton-based grower is describing as possibly "the best English rose we have introduced to date".

The flowers are in an old rose formation, with a strong fragrance with fruity tints.

David Austin's yellow is named The Poet's Wife and is an English old rose hybrid.

It has a low and naturally rounded growth and a rich fragrance with strong hints of lemon, which gets stronger and sweeter with age.

The final rose being launched is The Lady of the Lake. The bloom is a pale pink in colour and promises to grow to a height of 10 or 12ft or more.

Nicola Bethell, from David Austin Roses, said: "Even though all English roses have good disease resistance, David Austin continues to focus on improving their health.

"These three new varieties all combine outstanding health with beauty, fragrance, grace and, most importantly, charm – the quality they are most renowned for."

The horticulturalists, based in Bowling Green Lane, will officially launch the three new blooms at this year's Chelsea Flower Show on Monday May 19.
