Witness appeals over two violent assaults in Newport

A teenager and a 30-year-old man were injured in separate violent assaults in Newport.

The man had go to hospital for treatment after being repeatedly kicked and punched in an assault in the town's Central Square nightclub in the early hours of yesterday.

Between 1am and 2.30am the victim was approached by three men who punched him in the face. He fell and was repeatedly kicked.

Police spokesman Chris Ammonds said: "He was left with swelling and bruising all over his face, small cuts on his scalp and left eyebrow and head and neck pain."

The 14-year-old boy was attacked in Newport on Wednesday.

The boy was walking along Vineyard Road at about 6.20pm when he was shouted at by a white man believed to be in his late teens.

The victim ran into Hampton Drive where he was rugby tackled him to the ground before two other men caught up and then all three proceeded to kick and punch the boy.

Police have appealed for witnesses to get in touch by calling 101.
