Duke of Gloucester visiting Shropshire
The Duke of Gloucester was visiting Shropshire today.
The Duke, who is the Queen's cousin, was touring several locations in the county this morning and afternoon.
He was at Fordhall Organic Farm, near Market Drayton, before officially opening the £45 million Redwoods mental health centre in Shrewsbury, which is the replacement for the former Shelton Hospital.
His visit also included a tour of the Lingen Davies Centre at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, where he was meeting staff and patients on the cancer and haematology unit.
The centre is named in honour of the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, which contributed nearly £4 million towards the £5 million cost. Representatives from Lingen Davies were being presented to the Duke, along with other fundraisers from Shropshire Blood Trust Fund, RSH League of Friends, the Head and Neck Trust Fund and the Shropshire and Mid Wales Head and Neck Charity, who made it possible to build the centre.
He was rounding off his day in the county with a trip to Ditherington Flax Mill in Shrewsbury.
