The gym-goers, who are all members of Functional Fitness at Halesfield 5 in Telford, received the awards at the national Crossfit Varsity Teen Gauntlet competition held in Manchester.

Coach Phil Brick, of Functional Fitness, said: "The girls fully deserved the awards as they worked really hard, and are always willing to learn and help others.

"They have been coming to the gym for about 12 months, and have improved a lot. They have a great attitude.

"This was their first competition, but then again CrossFit is a relatively new sport.

"We try to promote sport and fitness at our gym.The girls have shown that the more you put in the more you get out."

The young fitness enthusiasts will be competing again in April.

They will again travel to the 3D venue in Manchester – the only CrossFit affiliated gym in Europe – to host the Varsity Teen Gauntlet competition.

CrossFit is a fitness conditioning programme based around muscular strength, cardio-respiratory endurance and flexibility. It was developed by American fitness coach Greg Glassman, who founded CrossFit inc in 2000.
