Man attacked in Ludlow as he walks back from night out
A man was punched in the face in an unprovoked attack as he walked home from a night out in Ludlow.
Officers are appealing for information following the assault, which happened just after midnight on Sunday as the 24-year-old victim walked up Gravel Hill while eating a pizza.
Constable Wayne Strangwood, investigating officer, said: "A small group of men were walking towards the town centre and one of them crossed the road and approached the victim.
"The assailant knocked the pizza out of his hands and verbally abused him. He then punched the man once in the face, causing bleeding to the mouth.
"The suspect is not known to the victim and the assault was unprovoked."
Constable Strangwood said the attacker ran off towards Station Drive as a police patrol approached.
The attacker is described as white, in his 20s, about 6ft and fairly stocky in build. He was wearing a "black hoody type top" with dark bottoms.
Anyone with information, or who might know the person responsible, is urged to contact Ludlow or Leominster police stations on the non-emergency 101 number.
Alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers by calling the charity on 0800 555 111.
