Free parking for shoppers at Ludlow's Tinsel Tuesdays
Visitors doing their Christmas shopping in Ludlow are to be offered free parking at selected times in a bid to boost trade.
People will be able to park for free on all Shropshire Council car parks in the town from 2 to 6pm on the first three Tuesdays in December.
The concession is linked with the special Tinsel Tuesday gift markets that are running again in Ludlow after proving a big success in 2012 in their debut year.
Although the markets are geared to people selling Christmas produce and gifts, organisers say by bringing more people into the town all of the shops and businesses will benefit.
The Tinsel Tuesdays are organised by Ludlow Chamber of Trade and supported by Ludlow Town Council and Shropshire Council.
Tish Dockerty, who organises the markets, said: "All we need now is some entertainment to jolly the days along so I'm interested in any local musicians or performers, choirs, including local schools and community groups, who can contact me to book a spot for performing next to the big Christmas tree. It will be a great market.
"We've had a wide range of applications that include ceramics, photography, metalworkers, textiles and jewellery alongside tasty homemade Christmas fare."
Tinsel Tuesdays are supported by market owner Ludlow Town Council, which has permitted seven day a week trading in December and reduced market rents.
