Shropshire Council's central planning committee is to decide on Thursday whether to give the go-ahead to schemes in Mytton Oak Road, Hanwood Road and Copthorne Road, as well as Shillingston Drive.

If all are given the go-ahead, it will see about 800 houses and apartments across the town over the next few years.

The Mytton Oak Road scheme, affecting land on the southern side of the road and close to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, involves an attempt to get outline planning permission for the creation of up to 425 houses and the building of a new countryside park.

The scheme has been recommended for approval by council officers, subject to a series of conditions including the creation of travel and wildlife protection plans.

Those proposals run alongside plans to build 118 properties to the west of Hanwood Road in Radbrook. Planners are also recommending approval for this scheme, which has been put forward by Barratt Homes.

Developers said in August that the scheme would create around 200 construction if it is given the green-light.

Both proposals are linked to council ambitions to allow the building of 550 homes in the Bowbrook and Radbrook area over the next few years.

A separate plan to build residential accommodation made up of 21 retirement apartments on land next to The Beacon pub on Copthorne Road is also due to be considered by councillors and has also been recommended for approval by councillors.

Members of the central planning committee will also decide on proposals by Persimmon Homes to create 230 new properties off Shillingston Drive in Berwick Grange.

The scheme has also been recommended for approval, despite hundreds of complaints.
