Children are sent home from school as taps run dry in classrooms
A school near Newport was forced to send children home today after some of its buildings lost water.
Lilleshall Primary School was closed this afternoon after taps in some areas of the school ran dry.
The problem is not thought to be connected to the fault with Severn Trent Water which left large parts of Telford without water last night.
Engineers were this afternoon at the school attempting to find the source of the problem.
The unidentified fault left some classrooms in the school without water. The decision was made just before lunchtime to send children home, although they will be allowed back tonight for an end of term school production
Headteacher Christobel Cousins said: "We have parts of the school that are without water but at the moment we are not sure why.
"I have a team of people looking into it at the moment and the children will be coming back later for the school production of Jonah and the Whale. I am going to be here quite late tonight so we will make a decision later as to whether we will be opening tomorrow."
Parents of children at the Limekiln Lane school will be informed of the decision about tomorrow through the normal channels, Mr Cousins said.
