Shifnal residents left without phone signal for weeks
Villagers in Shropshire have been left without a mobile phone signal for weeks – and they are struggling to get bosses to find a solution.
Residents in Shifnal have had problems making and receiving calls since March 11.
And they are now demanding action with phone giants EE, which owns the Orange and T-Mobile brands, claiming they cannot find a widespread fault in the area.
Alison Jackson, who runs a nail bar in the village, nearly missed an appointment for a shoulder operation as her hospital in Telford could not get in touch with her.
And while her elderly mother, who lives in a care home, has been ill, Mrs Jackson has been reluctant to leave home or her workplace in case carers cannot contact her.
The 47-year-old mother-of-two, who has reported problems to her provider Orange, said she had signed a new contract just before the problems began.
Mrs Jackson said: "We really want to know what is going on but we keep getting different answers.
"I have absolutely no service at home and it is becoming a nightmare. It causes so many problems in my day-to-day life and it makes you realise how much you need your mobile."
She added: "You drive out of Shifnal and there's a load of messages come through – it's ridiculous and makes you worried you could miss something important." She says neighbours nearby have had the same issues.
Mrs Jackson, who runs the Pink nail salon in The Broadway, said: "We have been into the mobile phone shops but they can't help as it isn't a problem with the handset." She has now been offered a booster device for her house to increase her network coverage – but she insists something permanent needs to be done.
An EE spokesman said they were aware of the problems. He said: "Our technical team is providing a solution to ensure the best possible mobile experience. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
