The smash on the A41 just before Woodcote, near Newport, involved a number of young children who were passengers in the cars.
There were no serious injuries sustained in the crash, which happened shortly before 1pm yesterday.
Chris Ammonds, spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "Five vehicles were involved in a road traffic accident.
"One lane was blocked but was passable. No-one was injured but they were shaken up. A couple of young children were in one of the cars and were checked by ambulance staff."
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said one ambulance was at the scene for about an hour.
