Shropshire braced for huge snowfall
[gallery] Shropshire was this afternoon bracing itself for blizzards, with up to 25cm (10in) of snow expected to fall over the weekend.
Temperatures are expected to struggle to get above freezing, and the Met Office has issued an amber snow warning across the region – with a red alert issued this afternoon for large parts of south-east Wales.
Experts said up to 15cm (6in) of snow could fall on Shropshire in just three to six hours from 6am tomorrow.
Telford & Wrekin council said it would be gritting at 7pm today and again early tomorrow.
Eddy Carroll, chief forecaster at the Met Office, said: "Clearly there is the potential for some severe disruption, and the public are advised to watch for updates and be prepared to alter travel plans."
