A crown court judge has given a disabled man who sent child porn videos to a friend in Kent a suspended prison sentence.

Judge Robin Onions also told Mark Jones to "start building up a social life and not rely so much on your computer".

Jones, 38, of Morfe Road, Bridgnorth, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday to be sentenced for transmitting three 'level four' pornographic videos and possessing one level one pornographic image.

Level one is the lowest level of severity, level five the highest.

He was sentenced to 16 months suspended for two years for the level four offences and ordered to complete the Face to Face workbook.

He will have to sign on the sex offenders' register for 10 years and will be subject to a sex offences prevention order for five years.

Jones, a wheelchair user, was also ordered to pay £1,200 court costs but Judge Onions imposed no further penalty for the level one offence.

He told Jones that the offences, which involved images of girls in their early teens, would normally carry an immediate prison sentence.

He said: "It's hard to say this but I have seen a lot worse, sadly. The girls are clearly 13, 14 or 15.

"You suffered an unfortunate accident when you were a young man which has led to the situation you find yourself in. You lead a socially isolated lifestyle and it may be that has led you to rely too much on your computer. The risk that you and all other users of adult porn run is that from time to time you will be exposed to child porn through pop-up adverts.

"Whilst it could be argued that you should receive immediate custody, it would be singularly difficult for you and singularly difficult for the prison service. You need to start building up a social life and not rely so much on your computer."

The videos were found on the mobile phone of a man arrested in Kent for unrelated offences and traced back to Jones.
