The former international, who will celebrate his 93rd birthday next month, has teamed up with Gordon Banks after both England goalkeeping greats lost loved ones to Alzheimer's disease.

Gordon's brother David died earlier this year after suffering from the complaint that also claimed the life of Mr William's beloved wife Evelyn 10 years ago.

Since then Mr Williams has dedicated his time to raising money for The Alzheimer's Society.

Pieces of his extensive glassware collection have now been put on the market with each piece accompanied by a signed photo of the two former England goalies as a certificate of proof that it came from the Bert Williams Collection that once filled a room of his Shifnal home.

Mr Williams said: "My first target was £100,000 which I reached after my 90th birthday and now I am determined to get £150,000. I have had some wonderful events in my life and this is the only goal left for me and I am determined to achieve it."
