£55,000 Shropshire Lotto winner still to claim

The holder of a 'golden ticket' in south Shropshire is yet to claim a £55,000 Lotto fortune – three weeks after their lucky numbers came up. But another winner – also from south Shropshire – has finally claimed their prize.

The two winners won more than £55,000 each in the draw on July 28. The winning numbers were 7, 10, 22, 29, 43, 44 and the bonus ball was 26. Yesterday one of the winners came forward anonymously to claim their £55,153.

This leaves just a single winning ticket somewhere in south Shropshire.

Patrick Lisoire, publicity manager for Camelot and spokesman for the National Lottery, said they would not reveal the location of the shop or shops where the life-changing tickets were bought in case the lucky winner did not want to be identified.

He said they were desperate to find the winner.

"When people buy tickets and don't claim them we are always desperate to find them and unite them with their winnings," said Mr Lisoire.

"Yet again if you played the Lotto on July 28 we would ask you to check your tickets. It's possible someone has put the tickets down and forgotten about it.

If no-one comes forward with the second winning ticket before the prize claim deadline on January 24 next year then the prize money, plus all the interest it has generated, will go to The National Lottery Good Causes – adding to the £28 billion already raised through sales of lottery tickets since The National Lottery launched in November 1994."

Ben Roberts, store manager at the One Stop on Tower Street, Ludlow, said they had heard nothing locally about the winning tickets. He said: "We don't know who the winner is or who bought the other ticket but it's all very exciting.

"We've not heard from any local shops if they sold the ticket either."
